New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez has ordered all flags in New Mexico to be flown at half-staff to honor U.S. Sen. John McCain who died from brain cancer Saturday afternoon at his home in Arizona.
Martinez issued the following statement:
Today, I am ordering all flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the life and service of Sen. John McCain. Senator McCain served our nation in the armed forces, as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and as a member of Congress. He is an American hero and it is in recognition of that service that I now order all flags in New Mexico to be flown at half-staff until ordered to full-staff at a date to be determined.
