Governor Acts On Legislation To Help Diversify New Mexico’s Economy And Create More Jobs

STATE News:

ALBUQUERQUE—Gov. Susana Martinez signed legislation Tuesday to help diversify New Mexico’s economy and create more jobs.

Senate Bill 356, sponsored by Sen. Jacob Candelaria, D-Albuquerque and Rep. Jason Harper, R-Rio Rancho, makes the hearing process for tax disputes truly independent, so that taxpayers do not have to appear before the same agency that is billing them.

Senate Bill 352, sponsored by Sen. Stuart Ingle, R-Portales, allows the state to offer companies looking to relocate to New Mexico an economic development rate for their electric utilities. This will further help recruit new businesses to New Mexico to create more jobs.

Senate Bill 233, sponsored by Sen. Pat Woods, R-Broadview and Rep. Carl Trujillo, D-Santa Fe, provides much-needed predictability to businesses to prevent increases in workers’ compensation insurance costs for temporary disability benefits.
