STATE News:
SANTA FE — New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced her endorsement of Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin in the race for New Mexico Secretary of State.
“New Mexico elections are the best in the country. Amanda has the experience and skills to protect our voting rights, stand up to election deniers, and keep our elections safe and fair for all New Mexicans,” Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said. “Amanda is the Secretary of State New Mexicans deserve.”
“Under Governor Lujan Grisham New Mexico has modernized our election systems and set the example for voting protections,” Amanda Lopez Askin said. “I am proud to have her endorsement and will work hard every day to maintain New Mexico’s high standards for fair and safe elections.”
Gov. Lujan Grisham joins over forty endorsers for Amanda López Askin including Sen. Martin Heinrich and Rep. Gabe Vasquez. A full list can be found here.
Amanda Lopez Askin was raised by a single mom in Las Cruces where she now serves as County Clerk. Her deep New Mexico roots and work to keep our elections fair in the borderlands means she understands how Donald Trump and ICE affect our communities, even U.S. citizens. That’s why Amanda supported the law signed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to keep ICE out of polling locations so that every voice can be heard.
