The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities reports this evening that repairs to the water main break discovered Friday at the Los Alamos County Golf Course will be delayed until Monday, Feb. 6.
DPU made the call Friday evening when safety became a concern. The water main proved to be deeper in the ground than anticipated and additional safety equipment needed to prevent unstable soil from collapsing on crews would be needed.
DPU was able to secure this equipment for Monday. Rather than shut water service off to 1,600 customers on North and Barranca Mesas over the weekend, DPU will let the main continue to lose water until it can be repaired.
