Gardens At Gisewa: Cooking, Eating, Growing Together

NMHS News:

Learn the “old ways” at Jemez Historic Site of how Indigenous Peoples farmed and shared food to prosper 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Jemez Historic Site.

Take part in the “Gardens of Gisewa: Cooking, Eating, and Growing Together” agricultural demonstration. The ancient village of Gisewa, much like other villages in the region, could have among other things been a place to gather and share what was brought from surrounding villages and areas.

The community is invited to attend and learn ways of growing crops and how to cook with those garden ingredients, then spend time sharing food together. Everyone is welcome. Admission is $7 for adults and free to children 16 and younger, Native-Tribal community members, disabled veterans and foster families.

Gardens at Gisewa is a great opportunity to celebrate the power of food, community and culture in the beautiful setting of Jemez Historic Site.
