- Social Distancing at its Most Creative!
Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM) and Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) are pleased to announce their 2nd joint plein air painting contest and exhibit, 2020 Los Alamos Paint Out and Show.
Friday, Sept. 18 through Sunday morning, Sept. 20, members of PAPNM will be in the Los Alamos area with their easels, paints, hats and masks, painting their interpretation of the dramatic and diverse landscape that surrounds this historic city.
From the Valle Caldera, more than 12,000 feet up in the Jemez Mountains to White Rock Overlook with the Rio Grande at their feet and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at their noses, artists will brave heat, cold and thunderstorms to capture their vision of Northern New Mexico.
The community is invited when seeing an artist at work to approach and take a look, but are reminded to remember to social distance with a mask.
Fuller Lodge Art Center’s Gallery, now a part of Los Alamos Arts Council, will exhibit these works, framed and ready to purchase from Sept. 25 through Oct. 10. Fuller Lodge Art Center is at 2132 Central Ave. and open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Covid-19 restrictions limit visitors to eight at a time with masks.
If unable to see the exhibit in person, a virtual exhibition of paintings will be available to view and make purchases at Fuller Lodge Art Center’s online gallery: https://artfullexhibits.com, then select “PAPNM Los Alamos Paint-Out”.
