If you’re into robotics here is an opportunity to exhibit your favorite robot as well as your home preserves, garden produce and those lovely quilts.

Attention gardeners, bakers, quilters and artists – you have two weeks to get your entries ready for the Los Alamos County Fair.

The County Fair and Rodeo runs Aug. 6-9. Anyone living or working in Los Alamos County is eligible to enter.

Exhibit categories include:

  • Culinary (baked items);
  • Preserved Foods;
  • Hobbies & Crafts;
  • Fine Arts;
  • Photography;
  • Quilts;
  • Clothing;
  • Knitting;
  • Crochet;

Age categories range from age 5 on up to seniors.

To enter your exhibits, you may either pre-register until Friday, July 31 or bring your items to Mesa Public Library 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.

The more entries there are, the more it contributes to everyone’s enjoyment of the fair. Who knows, maybe your exhibit will be one of the four “Best of The Best” plate winners.

Viewing of all exhibits for handicapped individuals begins at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 with viewing for the general public beginning at 5 p.m. and running until 8 p.m. upstairs at Mesa Public Library. Public viewing of exhibits continues 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday also at Mesa Public Library.

To find out what kind of items you might wish to enter in the fair, you’ll need to have a copy of the Exhibit Entry Booklet, which lists the various categories and classes available. These are available at the Cooperative Extension Office located in the old Red Cross Bldg. at 2150 Juniper St. or click here. In addition you’ll also find them at Mesa Public Library, White Rock Branch Library, Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center, Chamber of Commerce, and Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Pre-registration of exhibits may be done until July 31 on-line or at the Extension Office. Pre-registration is not required but it will save you time when you check in your exhibits. For more information, contact Helen or Carlos at 505.662.2656.
