LAPS Foundation News:

The Friends of the Los Alamos County Libraries, in partnership with the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, have awarded the 2020 June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship to 2020 Los Alamos High School graduate Amaya Coblentz for her review of the book Train by Danny M. Cohen.

The scholarship was created to honor those who love books. Applicants were asked to write a personal narrative concerning an age-appropriate book that was not required for school and that has not been translated into a visual medium. The narrative had to demonstrate in what ways the book added to the student’s understanding of the human condition or had enhanced their life.

Coblentz is the daughter of Kristine and David Coblentz. She will attend Western Washington University in the fall where she plans to major in biology.

Funds for the June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship are managed by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent organization that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all Los Alamos public school students.
