FOH News:
SANTA FE — Friends of History has announced its historic walking tours of Santa Fe are available to the public almost daily for eight months this year, from April 1 through November 30.
History buffs and students, educators and travelers, writers and artists, and New Mexicans everywhere are invited to step into the atmosphere and authentic story of a top-rated U.S. travel destination* with Friends of History, the official walking tours and volunteer docents of the New Mexico History Museum.
Friends of History offer three, two-hour walking tours for small groups. On the regularly scheduled Historic Downtown Santa Fe Tour guests explore a city like none other as they hear true stories of people, places and events that have shaped the area over 400 years. Guests even stop at the only round State Capitol building in the nation.
On the popular Spies, Assassins, and The Manhattan Project Tour guests learn Santa Fe’s extraordinary connection with dramatic and dangerous events during World War II and the Cold War.
On the special Cowboys, Outlaws, and the Wild West Tour guests mosey along with an 1880s living history cowboy who’ll share stories of the colorful characters that made the West Wild here in New Mexico.
All tours start and end at the New Mexico History Museum. Highlights of most tours include walking through the historic Plaza and along parts of what were once the Camino Real, the Old Santa Fe Trail, College Street, and Route 66.
Guests make up to 30 stops along the two-hour route to rest and take photos while a trained docent shares amazing facts and true stories, shows historic images, and answers questions with genuine knowledge and experience.
