ESPANOLA – The Regional Development Corporation (RDC) is hosting the “Resource Roundtable: Opportunities Close to Home,” a free event 1-5 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Buffalo Thunder Resort.
Three topics will be covered:
- Doing Business with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL); and
- Doing Business with the Government.
The event format will facilitate small group discussions between entrepreneurs and knowledgeable resource providers.
Co-sponsoring the event is the Minority Business Development Agency Business Center and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Members from these two organizations will be joined by representatives from the following organizations:
- New Mexico Economic Development Department;
- LANL Small Business Program Office (procurement);
- LANL Express Licensing;
- LANL Community Programs Office;
- New Mexico Small Business Assistance Program (NMSBA);
- Small Business Administration (SBA); and
- Los Alamos Connect.
“We’ve designed this event to allow for more intimate discussions. Speakers will present to small groups of 10, then rotate tables to reach everyone in the room,” said Kurt Steinhaus, director of the Laboratory’s Community Programs Office. “A wide range of assistance is available to our entrepreneurs here in Northern New Mexico, and we want to make sure businesses are taking advantage of these programs.”
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. and will feature light refreshments in the Caldera Room of Buffalo Thunder Resort. After the roundtable discussions conclude, a short ceremony will take place to distribute the recently announced Native American Venture Acceleration Fund (VAF) awards. Six winners from Northern New Mexico pueblos will be honored. One of the Native VAF winners, nearby Than Povi Gallery in Pojoaque, will be hosting an open house at 5 p.m., after the event concludes.
Registration for the event is recommended. To register, visit tinyurl.com/rdcroundtable. For more information on the event, the Native American VAF awards or the open house at Than Povi, contact Julie Ruth at 505.603.7190.
