Los Alamos artists Terry Foxx and Katy Korkos are leading a quilting workshop at the Los Alamos Nature Center 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 24. Foxx and Korkos will reveal tricks of the trade for using fabric to depict the beauty of wildflowers. Advance registration is requested.
This workshop will cover the basics of understanding and observing nature as well as elements of fabric, creating a foundation for making a wildflower portrait. Foxx and Korkos will tell you everything you need to know to complete your own beautiful wildflower portrait.
Foxx, an ecologist, loves to quilt and has had extensive experience with local plants and animals; Korkos, a master quilter, brings extensive experience in quilting and a love of nature including birds to this two-session class. Korkos has been featured in Quilting Arts Magazine and has displayed her quilts in the Fuller Lodge Art Center and other locations. Fox has illustrated and written books on plants and recently published Volume 1 of the Plants of the Jemez Mountains, Trees, Shrubs, Vines, Ferns, and Horsetails.
This class is $40. Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) members can participate in the workshop for a discounted rate of $32. Advance registration is required.
