Fox: Jackhammer Vs. Nature … No Contest. Not Really.

By DAVE FOX

The attached poem expresses my belief that common sense is natural to human behavior.

Thus and tharfore, civility, our nature’s natural sidekick in the survival of our species is the evolved tool that eventually takes over to snatch liveable satistfaction from the jaws of any goldurn fight.

Jackhammer vs. Nature
No Contest. Not Really.

Man-as-God stoked the jackhammer’s
Maddened Dance
On busted pavements of cities’ streets,
And leaves in ego-rampage
Tornados of concrete dust, pieces and bits of it,
Blown square in the face of understanding,
Until the hard-handed squeeze
That sent jack hammer and God-man
Beyond any control any longer,
To display on twenty-four hour screens
Raw and full-throated choirs,
Rasping in stupefied surges of ragged anthems
As the cities’ streets fizzed and spat
In random blue and white-hot spikes
Until blown fire plugs and their water pipes
Of misdirection,
Splattered finally
Against a risen wall
Of undeniable common cause.
The wall called common sense,
Championed by men and women
Of any and every stripe,
In those busted cities’ streets’ for
Minutes,
Hours,
Days,
Months,
Of the hunt,
However long it takes,
For the cement-and-steel-rebar loaded truck
To appear on the other side of the fence,
Fully loaded up
With Mother Nature’s
Natural
Common
Sense.

Repeat:
That’s
Natural.
Common.
Sense.

A – men.
