WATROUS — Fort Union National Monument announces that its annual Candlelight tours event will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023.

Dressed in historic costumes, staff will guide visitors on a lantern lit tour to “meet” some of the personalities who helped weave the fabric of Fort Union.

Reservations are required for this free event.

Tour times are 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Each tour lasts about 45 minutes, is limited to 25 reservation holders and covers a half mile accessible trail.

Reservations can be made by calling Fort Union at 505.425.8025, extension 0. Please arrive for your reservation 15 minutes before the tour start time.

The park recommends comfortable clothing for the trail and reminds visitors that evening temperatures tend to cool rapidly after sunset.
