When Los Alamos REALTOR Francine J. Mendoza traveled to the REALTOR Association of New Mexico Fall Conference in Albuquerque Friday, she had no idea who would be selected 2012 REALTOR of the Year.
It turned out to be the woman who sold her and her husband their first home in Los Alamos.
“The REALTOR of the Year is always kept secret until announced at the annual luncheon and it was so much fun to learn that our own Patt Rogers was chosen this year,” Mendoza said. “We have a special connection – Patt was our local REALTOR. Her first year in business was 1978 and the very first house she sold was to us and it was our very first home.”
Rogers and her husband, John Rogers, took turns serving on the Los Alamos County Council.
She went on to own her own real estate company in Los Alamos. Although Rogers eventually retired from selling real estate, Mendoza explained that she has remained active in state and federal leadership.
Mendoza works for Real Estate Associates and is president of the Los Alamos Association of REALTORS.
“Patt and I mentioned during Friday’s luncheon at the Marriott Hotel that it is such a special honor for her to get REALTOR of the Year in the same year that I am president of the Los Alamos Association of REALTORS,” Mendoza said.
