FOG: Six Lawsuits … Hundreds Helped … One Mission … Help Keep Government Transparent

In the past year, we filed lawsuits against six government offices that were breaking the law. And we’re investigating many others.

Your New Mexico Foundation for Open Government (NMFOG) continues to fight for transparency and the public’s right to know. We know you are well aware of our organization because you have been a supporter for years. Thank you!

But the battle is never-ending. And we need your continued support to ensure government officials take action only in the sunlight.

A quick update on other successes in the last year:

  • In June, we won a lawsuit against Bernalillo County after it refused to release security video of a corrections officer allegedly beating an inmate to death.
  • In November, we won a case against the city of Albuquerque, which had denied the existence of police records related to a human trafficking investigation.
  • Last month, the Los Lunas School District turned over investigative reports that it withheld for almost two years about a former superintendent fired for misconduct.
  • We answered over 500 calls on our helpline from New Mexicans who faced barriers gaining access to government meetings and public records.

For nearly four decades, we’ve been successful in the courtroom, where we’ve been involved in more than 40 court cases on behalf of the public, and also at the Roundhouse, where we worked with legislators to preserve transparency laws.

By donating to FOG, together we can continue to educate, lobby, and demand government accountability. Your tax-deductible donation is made easy by simply clicking here: Donate
