FUMCLA News:
This year, First United Methodist Church of Los Alamos (FUMCLA) will host the annual Ecumenical Lenten Series for 2025.
This year the series will be on Sunday afternoons beginning at 4 p.m. March 9. The evening will begin with worship at 4 p.m., at 4:45 p.m. there will be classes for all ages, and the evening concludes at 5:30 p.m. with a soup supper.
Every year six local churches come together to organize the Lenten series:
- Bethlehem Lutheran;
- First United Methodist;
- Trinity on the Hill;
- The United Church;
- White Rock Presbyterian; and
- White Rock United Methodist Church.
Each week the churches take turns leading worship and providing the soup dinner. Since First United Methodist of Los Alamos is hosting this year they will lead worship the first week and provide soup for dinner.
Classes will be offered for all ages, children through adult. A nursery will be available for children 0-2 years old. Preschool and elementary children will each have a class and a financial literacy class will be offered for youth. Five adult classes will be offered lead by leaders from Faith and Science, the Jewish Center, Bethlehem Lutheran, Trinity on the Hill and The United Church.
The Lenten Series is open to the community and all are welcome to attend. First United Methodist Church is at 715 Diamond Drive adjacent to Sullivan Field.
