WATROUS: Fort Union National Monument announces its upcoming free programs for visitors to experience where Fort Union began. Only accessible once a year, the First Fort and Arsenal ruins are a must-see event.
These 2-hour programs include living history, historic weapons, and time to explore.
Car caravans depart from the visitor center at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the distance to the site about 2.5 miles, and crossing private property along a gravel road.
Programs and access to the First Fort and Arsenal ruins are only available via car caravan at these times.
The area has rough and uneven terrain.
