Los Alamos 100 Men Who Care members selected First Born Program of Los Alamos (FBPLA) as the recipient of their December 2025 giving award. The group meets quarterly for a 30-minute social with simple food and drink, and then to hear three pre-selected organizations make five-minute presentations.

The group then votes on the organizations, and each member writes a check for $100 to the winner.

In addition to FBPLA, the group heard from Los Alamos Arts Council and Los Alamos League of Women Voters. Thirty-five people attended the event Dec. 11, which was held at the SALA event center and catered by Yuan’s Dumpling and Noodle House.

Members donated a total of $3,750 to FBPLA, who will use the funds to support making connections between First Born families and more seasoned and established members of the Los Alamos Community. FBPLA is a nonprofit organization that provides parents and primary caregivers with education and support to encourage normal growth and development of happy, healthy babies in positive, nurturing families. We also heard an update from our Sept. 11 event winner, LA Cares. Executive director Lyn Haval described how $3,300 in donations from 100 MWC LA were used to purchase laundry detergent and toilet paper for those in need.

Since 1994, LA Cares has been supporting our community members in a variety of ways, such as providing monthly food distributions and rent/utility assistance. For more information, please visit https://www.lacaresnm.org/.

Finally, we held a raffle for a free airplane tour of northern New Mexico with Robert Gibson, local pilot, and member of 100 MWC LA. The winner of the airplane flight was John Arrowsmith. We would like to thank Robert for providing this enticing door prize.

The venue and catering were sponsored by Los Alamos Children’s Dentistry with administrative support from the Los Alamos Community Foundation. This sponsorship allows 100 percent of 100 MWC donations to go to the non-profit organization.

Non-profit organizations interested in presenting to 100 MWC Los Alamos, or men who would like to join our organization can contact us at 100menwhocarelosalamos@gmail.com.
