First And Second Round COVID-19 Vaccines Scheduled Only For Healthcare Workers Jan. 11 (Not For General Public)

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Emergency Management Office is coordinating with the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) to hold a COVID-19 vaccination clinic 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11 at Duane Smith Auditorium.

The clinic will be limited to approximately 100 individuals in two shifts with defined criteria for prioritizing individuals. Please see below:

Jan. 11, 9 a.m. to noon: The morning shift will be reserved for those healthcare workers or first responders who received the first round of the Pfizer vaccine Saturday, Dec. 19. DOH has already contacted these individuals via text or email message with a set appointment time for the individual to go to the auditorium to receive the second injection. This will conclude their vaccination.

Jan. 11, noon to 3 p.m.: The afternoon shift will be focused on healthcare workers and first responders who were not included in either the Dec. 19 or more recent Jan. 2 vaccine clinic. These individuals will receive their first round of the Pfizer vaccine. The County’s Emergency Management Office has been contacting local healthcare organizations this week, and any individual in this category who has not yet been contacted but would like to be included should reach out to Beverley Simpson in the County’s Emergency Management Office at 505.709.8632 with their individual contact information.

A website for sign up is still being prepared and further information will be going out to individuals for the afternoon shift from Simpson once it is available from DOH.

As previously stated in a County news release, DOH does not expect to have enough vaccine for the general public that does not fall into the above categories until later in 2021.

To pre-register, or to learn more about the vaccine and “when” the general public might be able to receive it, link to the new DOH website: https://cv.nmhealth.org/covid-vaccine/

DOH will be the point of contact for all vaccination information, and will notify Los Alamos County’s public health officials as soon as they know when shipments of the vaccine will be made available for the community-at-large. At that point, the County will begin advertising vaccination clinics for Los Alamos via press releases, the County Line newsletter, the COVID webpage and its associated ALERT banner pop up on the home webpage, as well as through advertisements published in the Los Alamos Daily Post.

This Jan. 11 vaccine clinic is free and sponsored by DOH. Individuals with questions should contact the main DOH website that pertains to COVID-19: https://cv.nmhealth.org/
