KAFB News:KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE ― Officials have assessed the status of the brush fire burning in a remote area in the eastern training ranges.
Overnight winds turned in a favorable direction, helping to contain the fire. Firefighters were then able to address the fire from the west.
Current estimate is less than 200 acres.
Crews will be augmented today by the U.S. Forest Service, including helicopter support. A well water source is located near the fire’s main staging point.
The fire began just before 4 p.m. Sunday.
No injuries have been reported and no structures are currently under threat from the fire.
