The New Mexico Jewish Historical Society and the Los Alamos Jewish Center is sponsoring a screening and discussion of the PBS film, “The Trials of J. Robert Oppenheimer” at 2 p.m. April 22 at Fuller Lodge.

Refreshments will be served. There will be a suggested $10 donation that will go toward future New Mexico Jewish Historical Society’s programs.

The first part of the film covers Oppenheimer’s life through his leadership of Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory during World War II. Following the film there will be a discussion led by Rabbi Jack Shlachter.

This presentation focuses on Oppenheimer’s early life, his climb to prominence in the academic field of physics, and his work as director of the Manhattan Project.

The biography presents a complex and revealing portrait of one of America’s most influential scientists, and records a fascinating glimpse into a significant snapshot of American history.

Peter Malmgren will give a brief summary of his recently published and long awaited book, Los Alamos Revisited: A Worker’s History.
