NMDWS News:
ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) announces today that New Mexico has triggered off of Federal-State Extended Benefits (FDEB2) with the last payable week ending Feb. 19.
“New Mexico’s Unemployment rate continues to drop month after month. The Total Unemployment Rate has gone below 6.5 percent and as a result, per state statute, the extended benefit period has triggered off,” Acting Secretary Ricky Serna said. “Direct notification will be sent out to affected claimants along with information on how our Employment Services staff can assist them in finding job opportunities that match their skill set.”
New Mexico triggered on to FDEB2 in July 2021, providing up to 13 weeks of additional benefits to claimants who exhausted regular state unemployment and/or ended Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC/PEUC-A) when federal pandemic benefits ended Sept. 4, 2021.
The last payable day for FDEB2 benefits will be Feb. 19, regardless of remaining weeks or benefit balance. Over 2,000 claimants are currently receiving FDEB2 benefits.
Claimants who are waiting to receive an eligibility determination for FDEB2 will still receive benefit payments owed to them for all weeks prior to Feb. 19 for which they have certified for and are determined eligible even after FDEB2 has ended.
