FBI: Utah Man Charged With Assault On Federal Officer On Laguna Pueblo

FBI News:

The FBI has arrested Brad Porter Halverson on a federal complaint charging him with assault on a federal officer and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence after he allegedly pointed a weapon at Laguna Police Department officers Oct. 1, 2018.

The officers confronted Halverson, 20, of Morgan, Utah, after he allegedly shot at a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 and drove to Laguna Pueblo. When Halverson allegedly pointed a rifle at officers, they fired at him.

Halverson was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) for treatment of non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

No officers were hurt.

FBI special agents took Halverson into custody Tuesday, Oct. 9 at UNMH. He is expected to have an initial appearance today in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque. No further information will be released until after that appearance.

The New Mexico State Police and Laguna Police Department are assisting in the investigation.

The public is reminded that all defendants are considered innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
