FBI: Sending Hoax Letter Is Serious Crime

FBI News:

The FBI, U.S. Postal inspectors and state and local authorities are investigating two suspicious letters that were received at New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez’s office in Santa Fe Monday, July 8.

One letter contained a white powder substance. The other was unopened. At this point, field tests have been negative. Additional testing will be conducted at local laboratories.

Other responding agencies included New Mexico State Police, Santa Fe Fire Department and 64th Civil Support Team.

Even sending a hoax letter is a serious crime. Anyone with information about these letters is asked to contact the FBI in Albuquerque at 505-889-1300, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service or local authorities.

As this is an ongoing investigation; no further details will be released at this time.
