NMSP News:

ALBUQUERQUE – At around 7:15 a.m. on May 13, a New Mexico State Police (NMSP) officer was on patrol on Paseo Del Norte, traveling east near 2nd Street. The officer saw a Nissan Pathfinder pull up to the passenger side of a Toyota 4-Runner, both were also traveling east on Paseo Del Norte.

The driver of the Nissan, later identified as Paul Marquez, 22, of Rio Rancho, pointed a handgun out the driver-side window and fired three shots into the passenger side of the Toyota.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on the Nissan, and Marquez was taken into custody without further incident or use of force. There were no injuries reported in this incident.

Marquez was arrested and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Shooting at/from a Motor Vehicle.
