FBI: Navajo Man Pleads Guilty To Assault Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury In Indian Country

ALBUQUERQUE — Vance Andres Raymond, 24, of Fruitland and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, pleaded guilty in federal court Aug. 17 to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country.

Raymond is in custody pending sentencing.

According to the plea agreement and other court records, the defendant committed this offense April 10, 2018, in San Juan County on the Navajo Nation.

Raymond admitted to recklessly assaulting Jane Doe by grabbing her arm resulting in serious injury.         

Raymond faces up to 10 years in prison. 

The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Nayback is prosecuting the case.
