FBI Looks For Las Cruces Armed Robbery Suspect

Joshua Lopez is on the lam

FBI News:

The FBI is looking for Joshua Lopez, 25, wanted for his alleged involvement in an armed shoplifting incident July 27, 2022 at a Las Cruces home improvement store.

At the time, Lopez, and an accomplice who is in custody, allegedly attempted to depart the store, located at 3200 N. Main St., with an air conditioning unit without paying for it.

When they were confronted by two store employees and an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent, the accomplice allegedly produced what appeared to be a handgun that later was determined to be an air pellet gun.

Lopez and the accomplice fled the store in a vehicle driven by Lopez.

Lopez was injured during an officer-involved shooting at the end of a pursuit. He was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso and left the hospital on August 3, 2022.

A federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, Las Cruces, New Mexico, on August 19, 2022, after Lopez was charged with interference with commerce by threats or violence (Hobbs Act).

The FBI and Las Cruces Police Department are investigating.
