Family YMCA’s Holistic Winter Wellness Program: A Multidisciplinary Approach To Whole-Person Wellness

YMCA News:

Beginning Feb. 1, the Family YMCA will host the Holistic Winter Wellness Program. The program blends four complementary modalities led by experienced practitioners:

Conscious Connected Breathwork

Led by Tessa D, this 75-minute guided breathwork session uses music, affirmations, and mindful breathing to quiet the mind and open the heart. Participants experience deep relaxation while supporting nervous-system regulation, improved sleep, reduced anxiety, and increased energy and emotional clarity.

Sound Bath Meditation

Facilitated by Amber Word, this 90-minute immersive sound experience uses crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes, and guided meditation to support deep relaxation and emotional release. Sound bath meditation helps participants shift into a parasympathetic state, making it especially beneficial for those who struggle with stress or letting go.

Pelvic Floor Power: Reconnect, Restore, and Move with Confidence

Join Dr. Desiree Cassell, Doctor of Physical Therapy and pelvic health specialist, for an empowering and eye-opening 90-minute workshop designed to help participants better understand their bodies from the inside out. This hands-on session will explore pelvic floor anatomy, core connection, and how breathing, posture, and daily movement habits affect your strength, confidence, and overall well-being.

You’ll learn how to identify common dysfunctions (like leaking, pressure, or pain), how to connect to your pelvic floor without just doing kegels, and practical tools you can use immediately—including breathwork, movement strategies, and body awareness techniques. Whether you’re postpartum, active, or navigating midlife changes, this workshop will help you reconnect to your core, regulate stress, and feel empowered in your body.

Bring a yoga mat, wear comfortable clothes, and get ready to learn, move, and leave with actionable tools to support your pelvic health journey!

Nutrition for Holistic Wellness

Presented by Kate Cleveland, Holistic Nutrition Coach, this interactive workshop focuses on simple, realistic nourishment rather than diets or perfection. Participants learn three daily nutrition anchors—protein, fiber, and hydration—and apply them through a hands-on smoothie bar experience. The session is judgment-free, beginner-friendly, and designed to reduce stress and confusion around food.

Program Outcomes

Participants can expect to leave the program with:

  • Improved stress regulation and relaxation skills
  • Greater body awareness and functional movement support
  • Clear, practical nutrition guidance they can use immediately
  • Increased confidence, steadiness, and overall well being

Registration Information

Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged. Cost is $25 for Y members and $50 for non-members for all four sessions, ages 16 and up. Classes will be held in person once a week at 10:30 a.m., on Sundays—Feb. 1, 8, and 22, and March 1—at the Y Express.
