Family YMCA, Kiwanis Invite Community To Free 4th Of July Celebration To Honor America’s 250th Birthday Party

COMMUNITY News:

You don’t have to run the Firecracker 5K to join the fun!

Following the morning race festivities, The Family YMCA and Kiwanis of Los Alamos invite the entire community to gather for a free Independence Day celebration honoring America’s 250th birthday.

Beginning at 10 a.m., families are encouraged to bring bicycles, wagons, strollers, furry friends, and plenty of patriotic spirit to The Family YMCA for a community decorating party. Participants can decorate themselves, their pets, and their rides before taking part in a festive parade celebration.

The morning will also feature a special flag ceremony led by the American Legion, honoring the nation’s history and the 250 years of freedom, service, and community that have shaped America.

After the ceremony, participants will parade together from The Family YMCA to Fuller Lodge before continuing to the grassy area near YMCA Express at Central Park Square for a community breakfast celebration.

Guests can enjoy:

  • A free pancake breakfast provided by Kiwanis (8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)
  • Hot dogs and watermelon provided by the American Legion
  • Family-friendly games and crafts hosted by The Family YMCA
  • Community vendors and activity booths (from 8:30-11:30)
  • Opportunities to connect with friends, neighbors, and local organizations

“This celebration is about more than a holiday,” CEO Chris Daniels said. “It’s about bringing people together and celebrating the community spirit that makes Los Alamos such a special place to live.”

All activities are free and open to the public.
