Family Strengths Network ‘Baby Makes Three’ Series

FSN News:

Adding a child to a family changes everything. It takes time for parents to feel confident in their parenting and caregiving roles with their first child, and sometimes with subsequent ones. In many ways it really is a trial by fire!

Family Strengths Network (FSN) is hosting a new parenting series geared toward first-time families but applicable to those having second or third babies. “Baby Makes Three focuses on the physical and emotional changes in marriages with the addition of a child. The class explores the needs of mom, dad, and baby.  Parents explore their own and their partner’s priorities and their assumptions about roles in the family, and envision the family they would like to build. Fostering discussion during the relatively calm time before baby is born can lead to a smoother transition to family life and a greater mutual understanding.

The series is facilitated by Kelley Baer, a Lamaze certified childbirth educator and certified lactation consultant who has supported families in the community for more than 20 years.

The series runs 6:30-8 p.m., Thursdays Feb. 19 through March 26. The cost is $60 for Family Strengths Network members and $75 for non-members. Financial aid is available. Register online at www.lafsn.org or contact FSN at 606.662.4515 about financial aid, to request childcare, or for more information. Family Strengths Network is a United Way Community Partner.
