Explore The Effects Of Race With Your Neighbors And Friends

  • Join the Unitarian Church for an Evening of Personal Stories and a Panel Discussion

The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos invites the community to join together Friday, Sept. 25, in an exploration of how race and conversations about race have affected local people of color in the community — your neighbors, coworkers and friends.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. Panelists will share personal stories of their experiences with race, followed by an opportunity for attendees to submit questions for panel discussion.

This personal and engaging cross-cultural event is open to the community. Please invite friends, colleagues, and family who wish to hear and learn from people in this community about how race impacts their lives. Race is a divisive topic in our larger society, and this is an opportunity to explore race in a personal way, with people in your own community.

Pizza will be provided, with vegetarian and gluten free options, and there is no admission fee. Childcare will be available, and the church asks that you do RSVP at https://goo.gl/KoIssh. The only requirement for those in attendance is a solemn promise to be actively respectful and to practice empathy.

The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos is a congregation that welcomes people of diverse beliefs who share a common vision of a fair, just planet where all people are valued. Whoever you are, wherever you are on your life’s journey, you are welcome! The church is at 195 East Road., Suite 101, across from the animal shelter. The church office can be reached at 505.662.2346. For more information, visit www.uulosalamos.org.
