DCA News:
Get ready for Halloween and explore the ecology and natural beauty of the East Mountains at the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center (SMNHC) Spooky Night 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25.
SMNHC Spooky Night is a chance to meet a live owl, go for a night hike, learn about nocturnal creatures, view the moon and night sky, visit the Center’s museum, and enjoy all-ages activities focused on the moon.
This is a free event. Costumes are encouraged, but please wear a costume you can hike in if you’re interested in participating. SMNHC is an extra 2,000 feet of elevation above Albuquerque, so dress for the weather and bring a headlamp or flashlight. Parking is limited, so please carpool if possible. A full schedule of activities is available HERE.
Stargazing and other elements of the event are weather-dependent, check SMNHC’s Facebook page for the latest updates. The Center is jointly operated by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science and Albuquerque Public Schools.
