The search is on for the 2015 Excellence for Student Achievement Award sponsored by the New Mexico School Board Association (NMSBA).
Submissions for the 2015 nominations are due no later than Wednesday, Feb. 25 and can be sent by post or email to: District Office, Attn. Gayla Romero, P.O. Box 90, Los Alamos, NM 87544 or g.romero@laschools.net.
The award seeks to highlight the efforts of those that promote the enhancement of student achievement in the district. The nominees can be staff, students, parents or community members and can be nominated by the same.
“In a community that cares for its students, there are many unselfish acts of kindness,” Superintendent Dr. Gene Schmidt said. “Some of my favorites are the tutors, reading buddies and community members who meet with students in “cookies and conversations,” just to name a few.”
The process includes a simple form and a narrative of 250 words or less about the contribution your nominee has made to help students. The contributions, both great and small will be recognized by the Los Alamos School Board at a future meeting. The School Board will select one winner to advance to the state level, based on the entries submitted.
“Taking the time to invest in the future of our youth is a timeless act that keeps on giving,” Schmidt said. “Student and staff benefit through the expertise and mentorships of our volunteers.”
Nominations can be submitted via post to District Office, P.O. Box 90, Los Alamos, NM 87544 or g.romero@laschools.net.
