Española City Councilor Sam LeDoux
STATE News:
ESPAÑOLA – City Councilor Sam LeDoux of Española, N.M. will be one of two representing the state at the annual Leadership Alliance for a More Perfect Union Summit in Washington, D.C. The prestigious event is an initiative of the Joseph Rainey Center for Public Policy and Arizona State University’s Rob and Melani Walton Sustainability Solutions Service to bring together the next generation of conservative leaders with state legislators, mayors and city councilors from all 50 states to provide training to tackle the country’s biggest challenges.
“I can’t wait to collaborate with fellow elected officials across the country and see how we can tackle some of the issues we face right here in Española,” Councilor LeDoux said. “Sustainability is a prime focus of this year’s summit and given Espanola’s location in the high desert, understanding how to secure a better water future will be vital for our region. I can’t wait to see what ideas I can bring home so that future generations will have a clean environment and access to water.”
The mission of the LAMP summit is to foster dialogue centered on complex policy issues for elected officials while simultaneously empowering women, minorities, and mavericks in public policymaking. LAMP programs foster engagement and promote dialogue between state policymakers and a diverse group of experts from a wide variety of disciplines, including private-sector corporate leaders, high-level government officials, and members of the academic community.
The two and a half day summit will take place at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C., just a few blocks away from the White House.
State Rep. John Block of Alamogordo will be the other New Mexican attending the Summit.
No city dollars will be spent to send the Councilor to the LAMP Summit.
