SANTA FE — The live-action Galactic character Alax from Early Childhood Education & Care Department’s (ECECD) informative online series, The Early Show with Alax, will premiere episode two at the New Mexico State Capitol today, Feb. 28 during Early Childhood Day.
Additionally, Alax will co-host “storytime” with a NM State Representative, reading and interacting with young children in an early childhood style room.
“In episode two of The Early Show with Alax, we’re excited to explore strategies parents and caregivers can use with children to help them deal with big feelings,” ECECD Cabinet Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky said. “We’ve seen New Mexico families respond so positively to our premiere, and we’re enthused to release a second episode of our four part series with our intergalactic ambassador of care Alax!”

The Early Show with Alax is a playful, informative online series for New Mexico families with young children. The show’s host, Alax, is a live-action Galactic character from another solar system who wants to learn the important elements of caring for “little humans” without judgment or prior caregiving knowledge. Episode one on Safe Sleep was released on YouTube Jan. 28. It currently has over 750,000 views.
In episode two, “Big Feelings. Tiny Humans.”, Alax interviews PreK teacher and librarian Amy, who talks about the emotions of little ones and how to manage and understand their big feelings. The episode will be available to the general public on YouTube and TheEarlyShow.org following the premiere.
In partnership with ECECD, The Early Show with Alax is produced by an award-winning creative team composed of MediaDesk and Film Nest Studios. Santa Fe-based puppeteer Devon Hawkes Ludlow performs Alax.
