The New Mexico Forestry Division would like to inform readers about a wildfire that is requiring the attention of suppression resources in New Mexico. Resources are on scene at the Perch Fire southeast of Santa Rosa near Perch Lake.

Before New Mexico could join the United States as a territory, Congress had to settle a boundary dispute. Texas claimed all of New Mexico east of the Rio Grande, even though it had never fought for or held any of it. In the historic Compromise of 1850, Congress placed the New Mexico-Texas boundary along the 103rd meridian and agreed to pay Texas $10 million for its “loss.”

Jointly Reported Facts Are Mightier Than ‘Bipartisan’
We live in times of zealous palaver about being “bipartisan” and “working together.” Exactly what these words include is unclear. In times past, New Mexico Citizens for Clean Air & Water pursued ideas of our own that might qualify. Our goal was simpler and mightier than “bipartisan” or “working together.” We found mutual ways of telling missing parts of the whole story.
Over time, we learned that industry is no different from the cross section in every activity.
Four Stops, One Iconic Road: Route 66 Exhibit Brings History To Life In New Mexico Starting April 25

ALBUQUERQUE — In celebration of both the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and America’s 250th birthday, the “Route 66 Centennial Traveling Exhibit” (“Exhibit”) will bring the history, stories and images of the Mother Road to life across New Mexico.
The free Exhibit features nearly two dozen large-scale interpretive panels, audiovisual mini-documentaries, and educational components highlighting the diverse stories of New Mexicans connected by Route 66.

A plan for County-wide electric vehicle (EV) chargers was adopted March 17 during the Los Alamos County Council work session.
