Enjoy A Spooktacular Time During Halloweekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The beloved and iconic annual Halloween celebration in Los Alamos—Halloweekend—returns Friday through Sunday.

The lively three-day celebration encapsulates the small-town charm and community-minded spirit of Los Alamos through a variety of events, including trick-or-treating, interactive games, pumpkin carving, STEM activities and much more.

Events kick off Friday with two opportunities to trick-or-treat. From 3–5 p.m., visit Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) for Trick-or-Treat with LAMC, where children and families can enjoy delicious treats and family fun.

From 4–6 p.m., head down to Central Avenue for Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet hosted by Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District.

Streets will be closed to traffic to allow families to visit local businesses who will be handing out candy.

Plus, 15th Street will have County snowplows on display for kids and parents alike to explore.

Following trick-or-treating Friday, teens can head to the Los Alamos Teen Center for a Halloween Carnival, running 7–10 p.m. with music, games, and Halloween treats.

The event is free and open to high school-aged teenagers.

Honoring Los Alamos’ heritage as the birthplace of groundbreaking scientific discoveries, Halloweekend will feature a variety of STEM-related activities, including:

  • PEEC-a-Boo 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Los Alamos Nature Center. This free event features sensory-friendly trick-or-treating and fun activities at the Nature Center.
  • High-Tech Halloween 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Bradbury Science Museum. Enjoy spooky science fun for all ages at this free event.
  • Halloween Astronomy 6-7 p.m.

Friday at the Los Alamos Nature Center. Learn about the historic traditions of Halloween and the connections to astronomy at this fun, educational event. Tickets are $6 for children and $8 for adults (families can purchase a family ticket for $20).

From 10 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday, stop by Family Strengths Network for a Fall Party. Children and families will delight in playing outdoor games, pumpkin painting (bring your own pumpkin), cookie decorating, a costume runway and more.

Events continue 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Pumpkin Splash at Los Alamos County Aquatic Center, followed by the Los Alamos Arts Council’s Pumpkin Carving Party 10 a.m. to noon at Fuller Lodge with 100 free pumpkins provided.

Don’t want to carve a pumpkin but want to see other peoples’ artwork? See the Los Alamos Arts Council’s Pumpkin Glow from dusk to 9 p.m. at Fuller Lodge.

Also, from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday, don’t miss the Little Theatre Ghost Hunt, a Haunted Trail at Pueblo Canyon Inn and at 7:30 p.m. a concert featuring the Atomic Follies along with a costume contest and food at the Sheriff’s Posse Lodge.

Halloweekend culminates at 3:30 p.m. Sunday with Jack O’ Lantern Family Paint Night at the Los Alamos Co-Op Market.
