Next week the Los Alamos Faith & Science Forum presents two lectures by Professor Warren Brown.

Brown is director of the Lee Edward Travis Research Institute and professor of psychology in the Department of Doctoral Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif.

Professor Brown has co-authored several books including Did My Neurons Make Me Do It? Philosophical and Neurobiological Perspectives on Moral Responsibility and Free Will. Oxford, U.K., Oxford University Press, 2007.

Free Hunter Education At Camp Wehinahpay Aug. 9-11

New Mexico Department of Game & Fish is offering a special hunter education camp where youth can receive hands-on training and earn their hunter education certification free of charge.
 
The camp is open to youth ages 10 and over who are accompanied by a participating adult. It will be conducted the weekend of Aug. 9-11, at the beautiful Camp Wehinahpay Boy Scout Camp in the Sacramento Mountains east of Alamogordo.

ALBUQUERQUE — After months of negotiations, the Albuquerque Teachers Federation (ATF) announced a tentative agreement with the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) on raises for certified employees.
 
“While contract talks continue on other terms and conditions of employment, I am proud to say that all APS educators we represent will return to work next school year with significant salary increases. To promote recycling and zero waste in the community as well as to encourage more businesses to participate in the recycling program, the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division and the Environmental Sustainability Board sponsored the Zero Waste Champion of the Year award.
 
This award was previously known as the Business Recycler of the Year Award; however, the award program was expanded to include other sustainability initiatives such as water and energy conservation and overall waste reduction.

State Program Trains 2,300 Workers At 70 Companies

SANTA FE ― A start-up that helps retailers compete with Internet sellers and a company that builds unmanned solar aircraft are among the firms awarded job-training grants in June, said Economic Development Department Cabinet Secretary Alicia J. Keyes.
 
The most recent grants went to seven companies to train 52 workers in areas from chemistry to electronics and tech assembly to solar installation.
 
The June awards are the last of the 2019 Fiscal Year for the Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP), one of the top employee-training programs in the United States.
