Staff Report
Construction of a sound wall to reduce noise levels in the Eastern Area between Tewa Loop and Airport Road is nearing completion.
A Los Alamos N.M. 502 Noise Study identified a noise mitigation strategy for the area that combines constructing a barrier wall in conjunction with reducing vehicle speed to 35 mph on N.M. 502. After the speed limit reductions were completed, the consultant took new sound measurements and made recommendations based on the barrier wall being located in the landscaping between N.M. 502 and East Road.
The healthiest rose bushes in the construction area were transplanted to the area just east of Airport Road between the roadway and the airport fence.
The Los Alamos County Council approved a $760,500 budget for this project.
