Tom Alexander and Alan Wadlinger were 1st in Flight B, and Al Pratt and Ann-Marie Graves were 2nd in B. In the June 17 North American pair club qualifying game, Bobby Haynes and Norm Worth tied with Sam Borkowsky and Martin Cooper for 1st in Flight A, Joy Green and Jerry Morzinski were 3rd in A, and Jennifer Young and Steve Kemic were 4th in A. Al Pratt and John Ruminer were 1st in Flight B.
On this hand, it is important for South to realize what a powerful offensive hand he/she has!
Can getting to game be high enough?
This is Board #21 from our June 15 game. North was the dealer, and N/S were vulnerable.

North is the dealer and opens 1♣ (or 1♦). South’s response should just be 1♥. You don’t need to jump the bidding, because a new suit bid by an unpassed hand is forcing for at least one round. When North bids 2♥, South should consider a slam, as the pair has over 30 HCP.
4NT Blackwood bid followed by a 5♦ response confirms possession of all the Aces and the King of trumps. This is probably sufficient to try for slam. While 7 can be made, that is not a reasonable call, as declarer must successfully find the K♠, the Q♦ and the Q♣.
When this hand was played locally, one pair played in 5♥/S making 6, two pairs played in 4♥/S making 6, one pair played in 3NT/S making 5, and a 5th pair played in 6♥/S down 1.
