Dr. Richard Sayre
Dr. Richard Sayre is the featured speaker at the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos monthly Lunch with a Leader. The lunchtime event begins at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 18 at Mesa Public Library and is open to the community.
Sayre is a senior research scientist at the New Mexico Consortium and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He came to Los Alamos in 2011 and is active in studying genetically modified foods.
Sayre was formerly chair of the Department of Plant Cellular and Molecular Biology at Ohio State University. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil during the spring of 2007 and was elected a Fellow of AAAS in 2011. Sayre received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and did post-doctoral work at Harvard University.
His topic at the Lunch with a Leader talk is “Regulatory approval processes for GMO foods, potential versus perceived risks.”
