DPU Transformer Inspection Begins This Week

Assessment of Electric Distribution System

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities recently awarded a contract to JACO, Inc. to inspect transformers as part of the County’s overhead electric system assessment.

Beginning in the North Community as early as Tuesday, Feb. 19, an inspection crew will focus its effort in the Los Alamos town site over the next couple of months.

DPU Officials request customer cooperation in providing the inspection crew access to electric transformers that may be located in backyards or behind closed gates.

If access cannot be obtained, JACO employees will leave a door hanger with contact information to coordinate an appropriate inspection time.

Assessment findings will be used by DPU to prioritize equipment maintenance, repairs and replacement to meet the needs of its customers and to ensure safe and reliable utility services at reasonable rates. Call 505-662-8333 for more information.

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) operates the county-owned electric, gas, water & wastewater systems under the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Utilities. The Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and the public is always welcome.
