DPU Announces Geotechnical Investigation Ahead Of Utility And Road Work On North Mesa Feb. 22 -26

COUNTY News:

Geo-Test, Inc., under contract with Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will conduct geotechnical investigations in the southern/eastern neighborhood of North Mesa in Los Alamos.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 22 through Friday, Feb. 26, Geo-Test will drill a total of five borings on Alamo Road and Capulin Road, Tsankawi Street (south of Alamo) and Cedro Court.

Minimal traffic delays are expected at the drilling sites.

These geotechnical investigations support a roadway/utility relocation project that is planned by the county for the spring.

During the week, residents can expect crews to begin around 9 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m. each work day. Equipment noise and minor vibrations may be heard and felt by individuals in the area. A flagging operation will direct vehicles safely around the worksite.

No interruption of utility services is planned.

Geo-Test will gather information relative to the physical properties of the underlying site soils to inform county project managers on best options for trenching, bedding, backfill, as well as general site grading criteria and rock excavation ahead of the roadway/utility relocation project.

Questions or concerns may be directed to the DPU through the Customer Care Center, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 505.662.8333 or CustomerCare@lacnm.us.
