DPNM Launches Plan To Build Relationships With Newly Registered Voters To Celebrate Voter Registration Day

DPNM News:

ALBUQUERQUE — On National Voter Registration Day, Sept. 16, DPNM highlights the Democratic successes of enacting groundbreaking online and automatic voter registration reforms that put our state at the national forefront of secure and convenient voter registration. Thanks to Democrats, registering to vote is easier and more secure than ever in New Mexico.

While registering to vote at a Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) branch has been optional for years, as of July 2025, all eligible New Mexicans who interact with the MVD or other state agencies will automatically be registered to vote for the first time or have their address or name updated. While we will continue our yearlong work to register new voters as Democrats, DPNM is also launching a statewide program to send letters to newly registered Democratic and Decline to State (DTS) voters, introducing them to Democratic Party values.

As part of DPNM’s No Talk Without Action voter outreach plan, newly registered Democratic and DTS voters will receive a packet from DPNM with resources to learn more about our Party and how to get involved. Democratic voters will receive a Democratic Party Membership Card in their packet. DTS voters will receive guidance on how to update their registration online to become Democrats.

With the success of online and automatic voter registration, many new voters are registering for the first time without picking a party, and DPNM is going to make sure we reach out to this growing voter block and welcome them to learn more about our working-class values and build lasting relationships.
