The public is invited to attend a free drop-in Creative Reuse Art workshop, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6 at the SALA Los Alamos Event Center.
Painting on plastic is more than just a fun activity – it’s a new way of thinking about art. Let’s rethink what “waste” really means and create beauty out of waste. Whether you’re comfortable with a paintbrush or you’d rather just use your fingers, everyone is welcome to try their hand at this Creative Reuse Workshop. This is an opportunity to create something together as a community and have a lot of fun doing it! Facilitator Kes Luchini will be on hand to get you started experimenting with techniques and materials. Why not spend a bit of time with your friendly neighborhood artist, mixing colors and playing with trash? You may just stumble upon an affordable new hobby.
Materials will be provided, and we will focus on simple projects that are achievable in a short amount of time. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own “favorite junk” to use in their creations.
The workshop is intended for all ages; young children must be accompanied by an adult. We expect everyone to participate at their own level. No pressure – only helping hands to help draw out your natural creativity.
Participants have the option to take their completed art home or, if requested, leave it for a public exhibition that will be held Sept. 13-20 at SALA in conjunction with the Black Hole Museum event on Sept. 18. The art can be retrieved after the exhibition.
