This Giving Tuesday New Mexico Donor Services (NMDS) encourages everyone to give the ultimate gift – LIFE!

One organ donor can save up to eight lives and heal 75 others. Anyone can register to be an organ, eye and tissue donor – just visit registerme.org and sign up today. It’s free and you’re never too old or too sick to register. All major religions also support organ donation.

Across the nation more than 100,000 people are in need of lifesaving organ transplants – 644 of them are New Mexicans.

Nationally, 17 people die each day waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, and someone is added to the waitlist every 9 minutes. Only 3 in 1,000 people die in a way that allows for organ donation to occur. That’s why it’s imperative for everyone to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor.

NMDS encourages everyone to make the decision to #BeTheGift this holiday season. New Mexicans also may sign up as organ donors through the state registry at the MVD.
