‘Do Hair, Do Good’ Fashion Show Benefits Kids

CTHF News:

ALBUQUERQUE—Mark Pardo SalonSpa will bring cutting-edge global hair trends to New Mexico with their “Do Hair, Do Good” high fashion hair show on Nov. 9, with proceeds directly benefitting the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation (“Foundation”) – the only foundation of its kind in New Mexico solely dedicated to improving the quality of lives for children with disabilities and their families.

“Mark Pardo SalonSpa has partnered with several nonprofits in the past six years who help women and children; we opted to partner with the Foundation for the second year in a row because they have such a great program and we wanted to support their efforts,” Karyth Becenti, marketing director for Mark Pardo SalonSpa said. “The stylists at Mark Pardo SalonSpa have learned from top stylists around the world, so this is also a great opportunity for them to showcase that knowledge, be creative, and bring a New York style runway fashion show to Albuquerque.”

The “Do Hair, Do Good” fashion hair show will feature innovative, out-of-the-box styles, similar to what one would expect to see at a high-fashion runway show in New York. Mark Pardo SalonSpa’s hairstylists and makeup artists will present an “avant-garde” segment during the show, along with several other segments showcasing hair techniques, bold hair color, high end makeup techniques, hair textures, and styles designed to inspire ideas. DJ Eldon, a New York Fashion Week producer, will provide the music.

Guests will also have a chance to win a number of prizes by purchasing raffle tickets. Like last year’s show, 100 percent of proceeds from the event and raffle will go directly to the Foundation, which offers long and short term financial assistance to families of kids with disabilities, and supports quality of life programs such as the Patient and Family Assistance Program, Quality of Life Program, and Respite Care Program. In 2012, Mark Pardo SalonSpa raised more than $9,000 for the Foundation.

The fashion show will be held at the Albuquerque Convention Center in downtown Albuquerque. Doors and cash bar open at 7 p.m. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person; students are $15. Tickets can be purchased at the door, at any Mark Pardo SalonSpa location, or on the Foundation’s website at carrietingleyhospitalfoundation.org(under “calendar of events.”) With the purchase of each ticket, guests will receive a gift bag with a Mark Pardo gift card, hair product samples, and gifts donated by show sponsors.

Raffle donations and support for the event are possible thanks to the following sponsors: AlluraDerm MD Med Spa, Wells Fargo, Imbibe, MVD Express, Bueno Foods, Ray’s Flooring, Los Alamos National Bank, Starline Printing, and media sponsors including Local Flavor, Alibi, Natural Awakenings, KASA 2 (NM Style), Morning Brew, and Clearchannel. The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of special needs children throughout New Mexico. Now in its 50th year, the Foundation raises funds annually to support both Carrie Tingley Hospital and patients and their families. The Foundation relies solely on private and in-kind donations, third party fundraising efforts, and revenue from its two annual events – Mudd Volleyball (June) and Festival of Trees (Dec. 6–8) to continue its mission.
