District Attorney Marco Serna

From the Office of the District Attorney

STATE News:

SANTA FE — District Attorney Marco Serna announced Monday afternoon that one of the employees of the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office just tested positive for COVID-19.

As such, DA Serna has immediately closed both the Santa Fe and Rio Arriba offices for 14 days to be thoroughly sanitized, and to permit for contract tracing and quarantining to best protect the residents of Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, northern New Mexico, and the rest of the state.

DA Serna was potentially exposed while in the office and will self-quarantine for fourteen days away from his partner, son, and step-daughter. District Attorney Serna promptly took a COVID-19 test today and we will update the public on the result when it comes back.

“As a father, partner, son and northern New Mexican, I take the dangerous threats of COVID-19 against our seniors, those facing underlying conditions, children, and working families extremely seriously,” Serna said. “I am grateful to the exceptional employee, who unfortunately tested positive, for their responsible and prompt action notifying me in order to protect the residents of the First Judicial District and all of our colleagues at the DA’s office. All of us wish that employee, and all New Mexicans stricken by COVID-19, a quick and speedy recovery with our prayers.”

Employees were notified of the positive test and office closures at 3:21 p.m. Monday. Staff will continue to work remotely and District Attorney Serna has instructed employees who have been in close contact with the Rio Arriba office or staff to self-isolate and contact the New Mexico Department of Health at 1.855.600.3453, and get tested.
