The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHSEM) works to protect the people of New Mexico and the nation through a comprehensive and coordinated program of mitigating hazards, preparing for emergencies, preventing attacks, and recovering from disasters regardless of cause.

DHSEM encourages everyone to build an emergency kit for their household. Chances are, most people have many of the items needed to check all the items off DHSEM’s checklist.
