DPNM News:The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) launched an online information hub Wednesday, specifically dedicated to informing members of the public and the press about the upcoming special election in New Mexico’s first Congressional district.
The upcoming election will be held to fill a vacancy left by Representative Deb Haaland, who was recently confirmed as Secretary of the Interior.
The New Mexico Secretary of State is required to announce the date of the election within 10 day of the vacancy, at which point parties will begin the process to determine their nominees.
The online hub outlines the process by which nominees are selected, offers opportunities to get involved in the process and includes resources specifically for the press. As more information becomes available, the hub will be updated with specific dates as well as opportunities to support the eventual Democratic nominee.
This launch comes after months of work within the Democratic party to ensure that the CD-1 nominating process runs as smoothly as possible, and that Democrats are ready to unite behind our eventual nominee.
“We’re committed to making sure that this is a fair and transparent process from day one, and we’re proud to be launching this hub so early,” DPNM Chair Marg Elliston said. “Our goal is to ensure that every Democrat is able to understand the process and get involved at whatever level is possible for them. We’re going to make sure that each of our fantastic candidates has the opportunity to put their best foot forward, so that we can run the strongest possible campaign to keep CD-1 blue!”
